Water Droplets

Last post of My Friday Excursion, actually last Friday I shoot near my brother’s house. It was a fun outing because I manage to take so many insects, but the downside was that I had to endured sooo many mosquito bites… Anyway, even though my main objective to go there to shoot insects, I just couldn’t resist to shoot few beautiful droplets.

Friday Macro Mix

Third group from my Friday Morning Macro series, the last group will be up tomorrow…

Above: such a small wings for a big and fast insect. This bee keep buzzing around me, before finally landed exactly where I expect it to land but only for a brief moment before it buzz away. So I cannot really focus on it properly but at least I got it.

Above: We Bruneian call this “Kasisang”, In english I only know it as Stinky bug as it will produce pungent smell as a defensive mechanism.

 

Above: De Ja Vu, I feel that I took this shoot before.. hmmm… oh well, it flew away before I manage to take a good pic of it.. like always..

Above: I think this is another kind of “Kasisang”, but I am not sure.. .

Night Macro at Tasek Lama

My first night macro. It is quite challenging because I need my friend to hold the torch light so that I can focus on the insects. Spotting an insect in the dark was difficult, I only manage to spot 4 or 5 but only manage to shoot 3. It really was a great experience.

This is the 2nd time I saw this kind of grasshopper

Focus Stacking

One of the challenges in doing macro shooting is dealing with very thin Depth of Focus (DOF), resulting some part of your object turn to be out of focus. One technique to eliminate this problem is by focus stacking. You can read more about focus stacking from this website. Anyway, here is my first attempt to do a focus stacking, I took a total of 8 pictures just to create this one image.

 

Above: As you can see, almost all parts of the insect body are in focus. (ALMOST hehe..),
Anyway, got to try this again… and properly this time. …still learning…

Not all of the parts are in focus, especially the hind legs & tail.

Friday Morning Macro at Bukit Shahbandar

This is my 2nd time to shoot at Bukit Shahbandar. Manage to shoot only few species of insects.

Above: Manage to shoot this spider. It is quite small and I had a hard time to get it in focus.

I think this is the first time I saw this ant species. I try to shoot it from in front but they just don’t want to pose for me..

 

Look at its weird abdomen and head. I think this is a cross between termites and ant.

 

Pe nyang at.. or a BEE.. this pic was actually  shoot by HBK using my camera. He just want to show off his handheld skills. (sorry bro if you don’t like the way I tweak your pics and the watermark haha.. I claim the copyright..)

Tasek Lama Revisit

Yep.. it has been a while.. a loooonngg while hehe… I miss macro shooting.. so decided to join HBK to Tasek Lama. After some tweaking with aperture and photoshop, here are the results..

 

…what i like about this dragon fly is that it remains calm despite of the surrounding noise made by passerby and my lousy skill of handling my camera tripod.. hehe

soften it, sharpen it, blurred it, add glow, add brightness.. etc. (I actually forgot what I did to this pic)

Smiley dragon fly.. again.. The pink colour in the background is actually a jogger, well at least it give more colour to the pic.

 

 

Look at it’s hind leg… a water droplet.

Here is the close-up.. and what do you know.. the red object in the droplet is actually HBK, hiding in the bush.

Here is another water droplet.. and you can see HBK’s tripod and camera bag as he was saying “…ampai-ampai tangah dunia!” or is it tangah jalan??

Macro Near Sis House

Just having fun shooting just near my sis house at Batu Ampar. Actually there are some pretty interesting insects around but I only manage to capture the not so interesting one haha.. (all are handheld, due to I am lazy to bring my tripod… blurry here and there hehe)  anyway will try to shoot there again..

Sakit palanya nie usulnya.. ia tah ia hantukkan arah rumput ah… stress kana gambar haha…

I found this creepy crawlies last night, sliding happily on my living room’s floor. So I grabbed my camera trying to capture the smiles, but all I get is a glazing stare… creepy
